Sandals Antigua Honeymoon Review

How did the honeymoon turn out in general?

Amazing. We were not expecting the resort to be so big with so much to do. We planned out every day and still didn’t get to do/ see everything, we could have stayed another week and had plenty to do. The beaches were beautiful and there was actually enough chairs on the beach for everyone- that doesn’t happen very often. The resort was super clean, people would leave drinks and towels everywhere and they would be picked up super fast. Our room was beautiful and in the perfect location. And the food, we were not expecting it to be that good. We would do a little happy dance every time our plate came out. Over all, amazing honeymoon.

What did you like best about the resorts you stayed at?

The variety of restaurants. In a weeks time we only repeated one restaurant for dinner. The environment was great too, very classy. Most people dressed up nice for dinner and were very friendly toward one another. We met many people from different areas of the world. Our room was perfect, so simple and beautiful- and it was air conditioned, a must for us. The resort was beautiful. The landscaping was incredible, so many flowers and trees and so island like.

What about the destination(s) in general?

Antigua was great. The people that live there are generally very nice, even and especially at the airport- it was very refreshing. The natural beauty there is amazing and it seemed the island was not over crowded.

The least?

The thing we didn’t like about Antigua was the drive from and to the airport. The roads there are incredibly narrow, no paint on the roads, no stop signs, no stop lights and very interesting driving. Made us feel a bit nauseated each time and slightly scared. But once we got to our destinations we had no complaints. The other thing that bothered us was the vendors on the beach. They would wake you up from a nap or interrupt your book to ask you to buy a shirt and at times would be rude when you say no. We were so surprised Sandals allowed them to torment their guests. Ryan and I joked about making a no soliciting sign and putting it on our chairs.

Highlight of the honeymoon?

Our excitement about everything was our highlight. We would wake up and be super excited to walk around and get breakfast. We cherished our beach time. But most of all we cherished going to the front bar, getting our drink and going to dinner. I can’t say it enough, we loved loved loved our dinner time together and dressing up and stuffing ourselves.

Anything that you wish you knew beforehand that you could pass on to us for future clients?

We did get scuba certified which was such a fun and unique experience- much more intense than we anticipated but it was very memorable. The only thing I wish we did beforehand was to do the written portion online. We spent a lot of hours going through the book/videos and answering questions and the final exam took forever. We felt like it wasted a whole day.

Amazing recommendation. I am already recommending this place to everyone. Truly a one of a kind honeymoon experience.

Nothing. Everything was done and completed and we loved the don’t forget checklists at the end.

And about the destination(s) in general?   Sandals Antigua: The crystal-blue water, very pleasant weather, lack of bugs and colorful lizards

The least?   The airport, passport control on the way back out was a total pain

Highlight of the honeymoon?   AT SANDALS ANTIGUA THE FOOD (and cocktails)!

Anything that you wish you knew beforehand that you could pass on to us for future clients?  Sandals sprays very well for bugs, we didn’t suffer one bite. We had, however, packed loads of OFF lotion and mini Citronella candles which turned out to be unnecessary
