Turks and Caicos islands are Ideal for Snorkeling

Providenciales is the most well known of the Turks and Caicos Islands and is the center of the tourism industry – while, Grand Turk and Salt Cay offer a glimpse into Caribbean history with great Bermudian architecture and a rustic charm as well as some of the best diving and probably the most “relaxing” time you will ever have. Grand Turk is also home to a brand new cruise ship center.

Take a Sunset Cruise

A must do while in Turks and Caicos- and most hotels offer these cruises,  so while on  your honeymoon in Turks and Caicos, make sure you book a romantic sunset cruise along the coastline

Horseback Riding

Providenciales has three small riding stables, each offering rides along the beautiful beaches of Providenciales. Unique Tours is located at quaint Blue Hills Beach in central Providenciales. Located on the southeast side of the island near Long Bay Beach, Provo Ponies offers both group and private rides. There’s also a small stable at Five Cays Beach near Bugaloo’s restaurant.

An ATV tour is a great way to experience the wild side of the Turks and Caicos.

ATV tours visit the spectacular and undeveloped west side of Providenciales, primarily Northwest Point National Park, Malcolm’s Road Beach, and West Harbour Bluff. Tours departing from the Blue Hills area may also travel through the Wheeland Ponds region.

Northwest Point is the most popular ATV tour destination. Starting in Blue Hills, you’ll see the bird haven of Wheeland Ponds, a winding trail through tropical dry forest, a sandy coastal track, and ultimately, the extreme north-western point of Providenciales.

Most resorts are located on Providenciales. Here are some local  drives:

Chalk Sound Drive
This paved and winding road follows the south side of the incredibly-turquoise Chalk Sound National Park. There are rugged little limestone cays, luxury villas, and vibrant water here is one of the top sights in the Turks and Caicos. Once in the Chalk Sound area, you’ll also want to stop at Sapodilla Hill for the views, and the tranquil Sapodilla Bay and Taylor Bay beaches. tiny islands and turquoise water at Chalk Sound National Park in the Turks and Caicos
The incredible Chalk Sound Lagoon.

Venetian Road and Turtle Tail
Another scenic drive to consider is the Venetian Road off of central Leeward Highway . Unpaved, this 4.7 mile (7.6 km) road travels along the banks of Turtle Pond and Juba Sound, and ends at the eastern point of Turtle Tail peninsula. There are amazing views from the 75 foot (23 m) tall Bristol Hill near the end of Venetian Road offers breath taking vistas over the Caicos Banks and the inland marine ponds.

The Blue Hills Road Coastal Road
This beachfront road fronts Blue Hills, the oldest settlement on Providenciales. You’ll see coconut palms, small churches, and a quaint Caribbean vibe.

Hiking: Bird Rock Trail on the southeast point of the island is the only actual developed path.

The remote western side of Providenciales offers spectacular coastal and wetland landscapes, but access can be difficult and trails simply don’t exist. The locations below will likely appeal to those who don’t mind venturing off the beaten path. Such an area is the coast south from Northwest Point National Park. The secluded beaches, crystal water, wetland ponds, and low iron shore cliffs are quite beautiful.

Snorkeling and Diving in Turks and Caicos

a must do activity on your honeymoon is to take a snorkeling trip in Turks and Caicos, if you a certified diver, you can choose from many dive sites.  One of the dedicated snorkeling trips (usually traveling out to the south edge of the Caicos Banks) offered by the local scuba diving companies will usually give by far the best underwater experience compared to a combination beach and snorkeling cruise.

Some of the best snorkeling tour destinations include the West Caicos Marine National Park, the coral reefs near French Cay, the barrier reef off Grace Bay, and the Leeward Cut Reef. These sites collectively shelter a wide spectrum of the marine life endemic in the Turks and Caicos.
