Language – Balinese or simply Bali, is a Malayo-Polynesian language spoken by the people on the Indonesian island of Bali Most Balinese speakers also know Indonesian. English is the common “third” language and the most popular foreign language by far (after Indonesian and Balinese). Due to tourism requirements a lot of Balinese speak a level of English that allows them to communicate with tourists on a basic level.
Currency – The national currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
Visa and MasterCard are the most accepted credit cards in Bali, however cash is, in many cases, the only acceptable payment. Particularly in remote areas a credit card will be of little use to you.
Time Zone – Bali observes Central Indonesian Time (GMT+8) all year.
Electricity – The standard voltage in Indonesia and Bali is between 220V – 240V. (110 volt/60 cycle, suitable for U.S. appliances)
Climate – With sunshine shining throughout the year, Bali has a tropical monsoon climate, with pleasant day temperatures between 20 to 33 degrees Celsius or 68 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit. Rainy season starts from October to March, when the West monsoon brings heavy showers and high humidity. June to September is considered the driest season, with low humidity and it can be fairly cold in the evenings, the best time for any outdoor activities.
