Hawaii Honeymoon Planning- tips from the Experts

How much will we spend on our Hawaii Honeymoon, budgeting tips :

First step is to determine if a Hawaiian honeymoon is within your honeymoon budget parameters: Our experts suggest that you need a minimum budget of $3500-4500 for two people, for a Hawaii honeymoon including airfare from most US cities and if you are coming from the east coast budget starting at $4000 for two minimum for a one island honeymoon at a moderate hotel. For two islands closer to the $5000 + range with air for a week or more. ( price depends on time of year as well, Summer is always a bit higher, especially July and any Holidays) Airfare is what can cost the most especially in the summer and holiday times.

Budgeting for Meals, drinks, activities in Hawaii:

Our experts suggest at least $250 per day start, we always budget on the higher end. Just doing 3 excursions in Hawaii adds up to about $700 for two. For a week's honeymoon in Hawaii you will need about $2500-3500 to spend depending on how much you drink, where you eat, and how much, and the activities you choose to do. Our agency does provide you with great money-saving tips and some coupons as well to defer the costs. There are meals available in every price range in Hawaii, from inexpensive to high end 5-star dining.

The Hawaiian Islands

Maui, one of the most loved Hawaiian Islands has it all

Great beaches, resorts, hiking, waterfalls, snorkeling, day trips to Lanai, the Road to Hana, and the Halekelea crater! you can go biking, zip-lining, the Aquarium, snorkeling to Molokini Crater, surfing, Giant Sea Turtles that hang out at Napili Bay, you can go have fun at night in the quaint town of Lahaina, the Bohemian laid back town of Kihei, Upscale Wailea and The upcoming town of Paia, check out Anthony’s Coffee, and grab lunch on your way to explore the Road to Hana. ( tons of shops, bars, music, art, and more) a week is great if you have the time or even 5 nights.

Choose Kaanapali, Kapalua or Wailea Area of Hawaii

Lahaina town is the heartbeat of Maui, it’s a charming town with shops, galleries, and entertainment. Great restaurants as well! Kaanapali is a stretch of white sandy beach 5 minutes from Lahaina town, so this area is very popular especially with couples who want to be out at night and enjoy the town! Kapalua is a luxury playground of 5-star hotels such as Ritz Carlton and Montage – with the PGA tour first stop on the Ritz Plantation course.

Kapalua offers more room to breathe than anywhere else on Maui as you are surrounded by nature, not concrete. There are hiking trails, secluded coastline & beaches, with wide-open spaces- plus sea turtles off the beaches and inlets. Kapalua is only 15 minutes from Lahaina town.

Wailea is the area closer to the airport, and has more family-friendly hotels due to the very shallow calmer seas ( although it is not rough in Kaanapali or Kapalua, except for DT Fleming beach is a good boogie boarding/surfing beach) Wailea offers luxury properties we love such as the Andaz Wailea, the Fairmont Kea Lani, Four Seasons Wailea, and Grand Wailea. Beaches are smaller, and it is a further drive from Lahaina town (45 minutes on average) You are closer to Road to Hana from Wailea.

Kaanapali Beach Area of Maui

Want an amazing beach near a town that won’t’ break the bank? Couples on a limited budget who want to be near town choose the Royal Lahaina resort, the Royal Lahaina ( on one of the best beaches in Maui, near Lahaina town, and one of the most "Hawaiian" feeling hotels in Maui, simple- pool area, no slides or waterfalls. We have an amazing romance package at the Royal Lahaina that includes daily breakfast, dinner Luau show with cocktails and Sunset dinner cruise for two, seriously one of the best values in Hawaii

The island of paradise untouched by tourism: Lanai

One of the most secluded and beautiful islands in the Hawaiian chain is Lanai. Lanai island in Hawaii is a bit of a forgotten island. Dole once owned the entire island and it produced much of the worlds Pineapples. It is easy to get to Lanai, catch a ferry from Lahaina town, Sweetheart rock is a 20-minute walk or so from the ferry dock, the Four Seasons Lanai beach is nearby as well, and beautiful. We have been here and love this island paradise.

Splurge in Hawaii, book the Four Seasons Lanai

A secluded paradise bordering a marine preserve, located on the unspoiled island of Lanai, which is direct across from Maui yet worlds apart in every way. One of the most spectacular beaches in Hawaii where guests spot dolphins offshore. Romantic Sanctuaries for two nestled near an adults-only pool area. Private dining under the stars at prime private oceanfront locations are unforgettable

Only 201 guest rooms make this resort feel more like an intimate hideaway

Premiere 18 hole golf course just above Hulopoe Bay, a stunning setting

Self-guided fascinating hiking routes take you to secluded romantic spots perfect for magical moments on your honeymoon in Hawaii.

The Island of Oahu

DIAMOND HEAD & PEARL HARBOR ARE MAIN ATTRACTIONS

The main area of Oahu is very busy/crowded, ”Waikiki Beach”- perfect for couples who want great nightlife, tons of great shopping, plus Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head! Waikiki Beach is a hip cool beach area, it is a line up of one hotel after another – very much like Miami beach. Some couples like/want that type of beach area with tons of activity, shopping, nightlife. There are not a lot of hotels RIGHT on the beach, most are off the beach!

KAUAI- THE GARDEN ISLE

Kauai is probably known best for being the location of many famous movies, such as Jurassic Park, Six Days, Seven nights ( Harrison Ford) and Waterworld ( Kevin Costner) and the George Clooney film “The Descendants” .

Couples go to Kauai for the magnificent scenery- nothing beats the scenery of Kauai.

Some of the most dramatic scenery is only accessible by boat and helicopter tour - the Napali coastline has some of the most beautiful coastlines in all of Hawaii, and a must-see in Kauai. In Kauai you can hike, see waterfalls, beautiful gardens, beaches, and watch dolphins (Na Pali Coast). There is very little nightlife in Kauai, so be prepared to have quiet evenings. Also, there are no big towns or touristy areas for shopping like in Waikiki, or Lahaina Maui. Its smaller pockets of shopping/ dining areas around the island.

We call Kauai the “beach picnic island”

because there are so many neat beaches and secluded spots you can drive to with a picnic for two, and then let the magic begin. There are great hikes from some of these beaches, and there are some great snorkel spots and places to see sea turtles. You can drive your car and explore this amazing island.
