KAUAI OFFERS ENDLESS ACTIVITIES
PRINCEVILLE AND HANALEI BAY - ABSOLUTE PARADISE -A MUST SEE
Princeville and Hanalei are on the North shore... The Beaches are the main attraction here, and Lumahai Beach, where the classic South Pacific was filmed, is the most beautiful. Here lies the Princeville hotel and the Hanalei bay resort. we highly recommend these for honeymoons , or weddings in Kauai.
NORTH SHORE- have you seen the Movie “ South Pacific”
Lumahai Beach is a popular and picturesque beach and the subject to many postcard and gallery images. This long stretch of white sand beach was made famous by Hollywood when Mitzi Gaynor spent her time on this beach washing that man right out of her hair, in the movie South Pacific. Lumahai is the subject of many postcards and paintings
NA PALI COAST - END OF THE ROAD IS A GREAT PLACE FOR SEA TURTLES
This fifteen-mile stretch of rugged coastline on the northwest shore of Kauai literally means "the Cliffs." Much of Na Pali Coast is inaccessible due to its characteristic sheer cliffs that drop straight down, thousands of feet into the ocean. Sailing, rafting and hiking are the best ways to experience Na Pali's myriad of natural wonders. A must-do Kauai activity- SEE IT BY HELICOPTER, BOAT TOUR ( do an all day snorkel trip through Kauai Sea Tours, or Captain Andy’s) or HIKE past KEE beach.
Least expensive is the hike, you can also do a kayak tour, my recommendation is the all day cruise along the coast.
KALALUA LOOKOUT- ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL LOOKOUT POINT
At the 18 mile marker on Kokee road you will find the Kalalau Lookout, an outstanding opportunity to get some photos of the Kalalau Valley and Na Pali Coast. The Kalalau lookout stands at 4,00 feet above sea level and gives you a peek at a valley that as late as the 1920's still was the home to residents who farmed crops there. The only way into the valley is by foot along the Kalalau Trail or by boat.
See the gorgeous waterfalls that Kauai has to offer on your Kauai honeymoon
Now, who doesn’t love a waterfall? Kauai has many picturesque waterfalls and most of them are easily accessible. The photo above is of Wailua Falls is my favorite. It’s located on the East side of the island near Lihue. Another pretty East side waterfall is Opaekaa Falls Both of those beauties are part of the Wailua River Valley which also offers more history and pleasant views. When you are on the North shore around the Princeville and Hanalei area, be sure and look towards the mountains to see many tall, pencil-thin waterfalls.
See the Beaches in Kauai, we love Tunnels Beach, Anini and Lumahai - all within driving distance of St Regis Princeville Resort, one of our favorites!
the quiet North shore beaches. Kee, Tunnels, Hanalei Bay, Anini, and Lumahai beaches are all real beauties! Be careful as North shore beaches can have dangerous waves and currents, particularly in winter months (generally, October through May). When in doubt, it’s best to watch the waves from the shoreline rather than get into them. Always check the Hawaii Beach Safety site for up to date conditions and warnings.
WAIMEA CANYON : THE GRAND CANYON OF HAWAII IS INCREDIBLE
Waimea Canyon. It is known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”. It is an easy drive from Poipu. Make sure to stop at the lodge/visitor’s center. Keep your eye out for Hawaii’s State Bird the Nene, a type of goose found only in Hawaii. Take Route 550A and B from Waimea through the Waimea Canyon and into Kokee State Park. Be sure to stop at Kalalay Valley and Puuokila Lookouts for amazing views!
MAHAULEPU BEACH - Near the Grand Hyatt Resort in Kauai
Mahaulepu Beach is located along an isolated and windswept coast this magical stretch of coastline is so deserving of preservation. The Mahaulepu Beach Heritage Trail leads you from the East end of Shipwrecks beach along a coastline of sand dunes, lava tubes, tide pools and stretches of white sand beaches perfect for beach combing. Mahaulepu Beach is better suited for the experienced swimmer and snorkeler. Stronger trade winds on this stretch of coastline make it a haven for wind surfer and experienced kite-boarders. This section of coastline includes a variety of landscapes to explore including; lava tubes, sandstone cliffs, blow holes and isolated coves make this a fantastic place to discover on foot. Tread lightly as you discover this sacred part of the island. Always pack out what you brought in.
POLIHALE BEACH-The Most Incredible beach in all of the Hawaiian Islands
one hour or more from Grand Hyatt Kauai, the drive can be a bit hairy, dirt/gravel road for 20 minutes but worth it if you have the time! Polihale Beach is by far the longest stretch of beach in the state of Hawaii. Polihale Beach and State Park is located at the end of Highway 50 and is accessed down a unpaved old cane haul road. The seventeen mile stretch of white sand beach and sand dunes offer endless beach-combing and shelling fun. Polihale Beach sits at the end of the Napali coast and the edge of the Mana Plains. This is a spectacular stretch of wilderness, with 100 foot sand dunes, desert cactus and remarkable sunsets over the Forbidden Island of Niihau.
