About the Romantic Island of Bermuda:
Marine geologists say that 100 million years ago, this hook-shaped chain of little islands was part of the lip of a huge volcano, now long dormant. The submarine mount on which we?re perched rises 15,000 feet from the bottom of the sea. That part of Bermuda that is above the surface of the sea is surrounded by a wide platform of underwater coral reefs that protect us from stormy weather. This shallow platform gives our inshore seas colours that you won?t soon forget ? stunning blues and greens that lap at the pink sand of our beaches.
Bermuda : things to see , things to do
Crystal Cave was found in 1884 by the Wilkinson?s, owners of the property where the caves are located. The magnificent crystal stalactites and stalagmites surrounding a clear blue azure lake were formed over 30 million years ago. Proper illumination has been installed and even the formations on the bottom of the lake are clearly visible. Fantasy Cave has been linked to Crystal Caves so both can be seen in one tour. Rare chandelier soda straw formations hang from the ceiling. Underground water passageways connect the cave ?lakes? with the ocean. These caves are truly spectacular and not to be missed.
Our Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo has fantastic displays of sealife, animals from around the world, the formation of Bermuda, interactive programmes for young and old alike. To further understand Bermuda's underwater world the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute is a must, with treasure, a vast shell collection and underwater exploration information at your fingertips without getting wet! Bermuda's parks and forts are everywhere on the island and make a wonderful rest and/or picnic spot. Botanical Gardens is Bermuda's queen of parks and Fort St. Catherine the queen of forts, of which there are 90! If the historical element intrigues you, St. Peter's Church is believed to be the oldest continually used Anglican church in the Western hemisphere dating back to 1612.
If it's action you are looking for...head to the Royal Naval Dockyard where you will find the Clocktower Mall, Segway Tours, Dolphin Quest and Snorkel Park and plenty of other activities to keep your interest. Or try your skill at Rock Climbing. Check out the underground jewels of Bermuda...Crystal and Fantasy Caves.
GET married in Bermuda:
Beautiful, romantic Bermuda is the perfect place to say ?I do?. Exchange your vows on a coral pink sandy beach, from the top of a breathtaking cliff, aboard a sail boat, in an historic church or in a lush, tropical garden in Bermuda the choice is yours.
Bermuda?s impeccable location keeps our island warmed by the Gulf Stream and the sun?s rays, but free of the tropics? relentless heat. Our opinion? It is absolutely perfect.
Our extraordinarily pleasant climate rarely sees extremes of either hot or cold. Not even the Queen could resist the temperate conditions warming us year round.
The hottest part of our year: May through mid-October, when temperatures hover between 75?F / 23?C and 85?F / 29?C
During the winter months, temperatures average a balmy 70?F / 21?C
Summer months are somewhat drier, but rainfall is spread relatively equally throughout the year
Since rainstorms generate the island?s only supply of fresh water, residents welcome the brief storms ? however few and far between
Hurricanes are not as prevalent here as in the Caribbean, but they do occasionally visit our island once every seven years or so
Who Lives in Bermuda? Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas make Bermuda their home. They own a hotel as well, call us if you want to know more about it ~ (888) 343-6413
